December 12, 2024 – The Global Initiative to Support Parents (GISP) is delighted by the outcomes of the Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children, held in Bogotá, Colombia, in November 2024. A remarkable 49 countries pledged to prioritize parent and caregiver support as a key strategy to protect children, with a total of 102 countries committed to implementing strategies to safeguard children globally.
GISP played a pivotal role in leading dynamic discussions that underscored the importance of supporting parents and caregivers as a cornerstone of child protection. Our partners from the Early Childhood Development Action Network (ECDAN) highlighted the profound impact of early adversity on brain development, emphasizing the urgency of early intervention.
