Supporting Parent and Caregiver Wellbeing in Humanitarian Settings
Date: 22 May 2024 (Wednesday)
Time: 3pm CET (60 minutes)

Humanitarian emergencies can adversely impact the health and well-being of both caregivers and children. While a strong, nurturing relationship with a parent or caregiver can serve as a critical buffer against the worst impacts of a crisis on children, significant threats to caregivers’ own mental health and wellbeing can hinder their capacity to positively engage with their children and provide the additional support and care needed during crises. Building on families’ existing strengths and prioritizing the well-being of parents and caregivers can profoundly influence how children of all ages experience crises and reduce negative outcomes later in life. The MHPSS Collaborative in conjunction with the Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action, the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE), and the Global Initiative to Support Parents (GISP) are hosting a webinar on support parent and caregiver wellbeing in humanitarian settings to share evidence on the effectiveness of parent and caregiver support in humanitarian settings and showcase examples of good practice from around the world.
