Fatherhood and Male Engagement
Learning Group
The Fatherhood and Male Engagement Learning Group is convened by ECDAN and Promundo. The group was established to provide a space for organizations to connect on engaging men and fathers in parenting support initiatives.

OBJECTIVES
- Showcase and elevate work on fatherhood to other partners working on parenting support
- Establish a platform to encourage cross-agency collaboration on supporting fathers
- Be inclusive to partners working on the topic of fatherhood across sectors and across the life course
- Build the evidence base around fatherhood by contributing to the GISP Knowledge Platform
- Support global, regional, and national advocacy around parenting and the promotion of fatherhood
PLANNED ACTIVITIES

- Establish a platform to encourage cross-agency collaboration on supporting fathers
- Be inclusive to partners working on the topic of fatherhood across sectors and across the life course
- Build the evidence base around fatherhood by contributing to the GISP Knowledge Platform
- Support global, regional, and national advocacy around parenting and the promotion of fatherhood
- Themed GISP newsletter on fatherhood with inputs from working group members, including showcasing recent research and peer-reviewed publications, reports, events, programs, etc.
- Collate evidence from partners around fatherhood, to be included in the GISP Compendium of Case Studies and Knowledge Platform
- Organize webinars and learning events on the evidence included in the Knowledge Platform to encourage development of a global network on fatherhood and support peer-to-peer and region-to-region learning
- Conduct systematic reviews and meta-analysis to synthesize available literature and to identify gaps for future research.
- Conduct research to understand fatherhood in diverse cultural contexts and develop interventions to promote fathers’ involvement in caregiving.
- Conduct research to understand the influence of diverse paternal involvement on child mental health and overall development, which will help to strengthen the interventions.
- Conduct research study to understand challenges of fatherhood being in different marital status, sexual identities across cultures
