The Virtual Regional Meeting on Supporting Fathers, Mothers, and Other Caregivers to Improve the Health, Development, and Well-Being of Children and Adolescents took place from 5-7 October 2022. It brought together representatives from government across 31 countries, including representatives from the fields of health, social development, drug use prevention, and other sectors. The convening was organized by GISP partners and the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO).
The meeting sought to share evidence on strengthening parents skills and country experiences. It also explored lessons about implementation and sustainability of parenting interventions and advocated for countries to strengthen their capacities to support parents and caregivers.
Because a lot of parents have been through trauma or hurt, and because of that, they or their children may end up in the court system. They need extra help in terms of parenting.
