Training on Setting Up Safe Healing Spaces for Children and Families Affected by Conflict

On Tuesday, 14 November and Wednesday, 15 November, Amna will be offering a training on Setting Up Safe Healing Spaces for Children and Families Affected by Conflict. This free in-depth training will be delivered over two days for 3.5 hours each day.

The training will focus on Early Childhood Development (ECD) in the context of emergencies, and give workers who are responding to communities affected by conflict an introduction to the Nurturing Care Framework (WHO, UNICEF, World Bank), and tools that can help shield children from the worst effects of adversity. The training draws on years of experience gathered from Amna’s Early Childhood Development program Baytna, which has been recognised by UNESCO, Moving Minds Alliance and the Nurturing Care Framework as drawing on best practice from across counselling and social care (Baytna Evaluation, 2022).

Live interpretation in Arabic and other languages can be provided upon request

Parents and caregivers are heroes: Protecting our children in a crisis

Parents and caregivers facing crises go to extraordinary lengths to protect their children. They show immense courage and dedication in providing love and care during emergencies and difficult situations. These short tips are designed to help families affected by the crisis in Palestine, and to be easy to read and use.

These tips have been co-developed by Parenting for Lifelong Health (PLH), the University of Oxford, University College London, UNODC, Manchester University, World Health Organization, UNICEF, ECDAN, End Violence against Children and with support and input from colleagues at UNHCR.

This initial set is for printing and distribution on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and WhatsApp. They are open source and available in an editable format using Adobe Acrobat. Organizations may add their logos, but should refrain from changing the core content as it is based on the best available evidence for supporting families. If any changes are made to content, please remove all partner logos. If you require assistance, please contact parenting@parentingforlifelonghealth.org.

This website will be updated as more resources become available.

Resource for Caregiving in Conflict, Crisis, or Stressful Settings

In response to the ongoing crisis, UNODC have shared resources from their toolkit on caregiving in conflict, crisis, or stressful settings. These include a leaflet and booklet informed by field implementation experience in diverse conflicts and developed in partnership with other UN agencies and academic institutions, as well as videos to articulate the content of the tools.
